About calm&chic

Personal styling, grounded in more than a hunch

Most style advice is one-size-fits-everyone: the same trends, the same palettes, pushed to everybody. calm&chic starts from the opposite place — from who you actually are. We pair color science with an LLM-driven styling engine to give you color and outfit guidance that's personal, considered, and honest about what it can and can't do.

Who we are

calm&chic is a small team building an AI-powered personal stylist. We were tired of fashion tools that either shout the same trend at everyone or hide behind vague “you do you” platitudes. Dressing well is genuinely personal — the colors that flatter you, the shapes that suit your body, the way an outfit needs to work for your actual day. That's a real problem, and it deserves a real, grounded answer rather than generic vibes.

So we built two things that work together. StyleGenie turns a selfie (or a few manual choices) into a flattering color palette and complete outfit ideas. Fit Check lets you photograph an outfit you already own and scores it against the same styling rules, with tips to make it work harder. One rulebook, both directions — so the advice you get and the feedback you get can never quietly drift apart.

The science behind our recommendations

“AI stylist” can mean anything, so here's what it means for us. Our recommendations aren't a black box that just asks a model to “know fashion” — they're grounded in three ideas we can actually explain.

Complexion-based color theory

We start with your coloring — skin tone, undertone, and the contrast of your hair and eyes. Established color theory (warm vs. cool undertones, seasonal analysis) decides which colors reach your palette at all, and which sit closest to your face.

Life first, look second

Great outfits fit a life, not just a body. We weigh what your days actually ask clothes to do — and who you want to feel like — before what merely looks good, so a recommendation suits you rather than a generic silhouette.

A bounded, checked system

Palettes are snapped to a curated 267-shade colorimetry inventory, and outfits are grounded in an editable styling rulebook plus cultural color rules for Indian occasions. A verifier then re-checks every result against those same rules before it reaches you.

What we don't do

We recommend colors and outfits, and we give a second opinion on outfits you already own. We do not predict garment sizes or fit across retailers — that's a genuinely hard, unsolved problem, and we'd rather be useful at what we do than pretend to solve what we don't. If we ever build it, you'll hear about it here first.

Every outfit photo and piece image you see is generated by AI to show the look — none of them is a photograph of a real person or a real product. Each one is labelled where it appears, and carries provenance metadata in the file itself.
